Biography:

Christopher Dawson grew up in Seattle, back in the days of pre-antitrust Microsoft, coffeeshops owned by something other than Starbucks, and really loud, inarticulate music. He escaped to the right coast in the early 90's and received a degree in Information Systems from Johns Hopkins University. While there, he began a career in health and educational information systems, with a focus on clinical trials and related statistical programming and database modeling. This focus led him to several positions at Johns Hopkins, then to a large biotech company in Cambridge, and finally, to his own consulting business.

Now, he lives with his wife, four kids (with another on the way, because he's genuinely nuts), a dog, and a horrible cat in a small town in north-central Massachusetts where he spent four years teaching computing, math, and science at the local high school. Recently, he became the technology director for the district and still spends his days neck deep in a host of computing and IT issues common to most small businesses, educators, and non-profits.

Increasingly though, his passion is writing. As the educational technology blogger for ZDNet for the last 3 years, he has written extensively on 1:1 computing, open source in education, and tech/math/science literacy for students.  He has a book in the works on social media in education and is also working on some good old-fashioned cyberpunk fiction.
